Cllr Caroline Jackson, a dedicated Conservative councillor for Hutton Ward on Redcar & Cleveland Council, has sadly announced that she is stepping down from the council due to ill health after a recent struggle with Covid 19. Caroline has been a very active councillor for her ward and also as a committee member on the council with a particular interest in children's services and education.
Caroline explained that the effects of Long Covid have left her in poor health. Having first accepted a six month leave of absence from council duties to help her recovery, she felt it better to step down, so a by-election could be held alongside other elections on May 6th.
South Tees Conservatives wish Caroline a swift recovery to good health and all the best for the future. STCA Chairman Lee R Holmes said "Caroline has been a hard working and dedicated councillor for the residents of Hutton ward for a number of years and a shining example of the good that elected public servants can do. I'm extremely sad to see her go but completely understand her reasons and her health must come first. Hopefully Caroline will regain her health soon and she'll always be welcome back if the urge takes her. Never say never!"
