There are lots of fantastic young people in our area and this week Simon Clarke MP spent time hearing about the fundraising that dozens of them have been organising as part of their NCS - National Citizen Service activity for The Grenfell Club in Redcar. Everyone involved deserves massive congratulations for giving up part of their summer to achieve this - well done!!
It really matters that we deliver great opportunities for the next generation, and that's why this month's data from #UCAS shows a record rate of 18 year olds accepted to university, as well as a record rate of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.
We all know university is not for everyone, which is why Conservatives have reformed apprenticeships and are introducing T-levels, a gold standard technical option as rigorous and robust as A-levels.
Whatever route young people go down, what matters is that you can find a good job at the end of it. The hard work of this Government has reduced youth unemployment by 45% since 2010, so that today it is at a record low. That's what inspires me Simon in his job and wishes every NCS student the best of luck in fulfilling their own dreams.
